I like my math class. When Mr. Dorman teaches it, it's always fun and entertaining. We do many fun tasks. Sometimes we get to color or "sculpt" projects. Mr. Dorman shows us videos with his "math hero". All of those videos help me understand the topics better.
multiplying and DIVIDING fractions
Currently we are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. To do that, you first have to see if any of the fractions can be simplified. Next, you multiply strait across. Finally, see if the final fraction can be simplified. After you do all those steps, you will have your finished product; the answer.
variables in equations
In math, we solved equations with variables on both sides. To do that we do the opposite of what ever operation is on the sides with the number with the variable. After that we keep doing that until there are no more numbers. Only the answer. Out of all of the math we do, this is my favorite.
Tessalations
In math we made tessellations. A tessellation is a repeating pattern of pictures with no gaps or overlaps. The picture is an example of one. The pictures are of Pokemon: Pikachu and Psyduck. As you can see, there are no gaps or overlapping pictures. These were pretty easy for me.
Tin foil boats
Today in math, we made foil boats. My boat held 164 pennies. The highest number of pennies held was 354 pennies. My original boat was shaped like a really deep cup. That one sank at 68 pennies. Our new boat is more of a big square. What I've learned was that the largest surface area held the most pennies.
